I have been going to do a fly and ride long weekend in Cairns for some time. It just seems to have slipped off my radar with all the other travel I do.

Also cost is just that bit extra than hopping on your own bike and riding off for a few days but I am still looking to do it.

Brisbane is only 2500km from the Gilles!! :D

A few of corners south of Cawongla are bumpy. Two or three on the hill have needed fixing for years but you just slow down over them.

The lower section near the creek goes under in heavy rains and the road will slowly get buckled by trucks and after a few years they come along and resurface and the whole cycle begins anew.

Take your Allen keys with you if you go through the tight bends towards Kyogle. You'll need them to re-do your fairing bolts. The best corners are in terrible condition.

Hi, great info and thanks, going over in November this year and will cover many of the roads you mentioned. I just sold a Strom and found it a great touring bike, but even better after adding the MRA vario touring screen. Standard screen sucks the buffeting is sooo bad! Don't know if I can bring myself to hire one with standard screen but the price per day is good! Will let you know how we go

So many good roads in Japan. I spent two weeks riding there in Oct 2011. Many of the roads off your list. I found that although these tourist roads (the ones with names like Azuma skyline) are full of tourist cars and buses and it was often the roads nearby which were better. I've run this way between Brisbane-Lismore quite a number of times, it really is magnificent.

However, when in the area, don't be tempted by the Lions Road's interesting history and enticingly squiggly appearance. It's *awful*.

We just got back from a ride the other week, down through Gundagai up into Batlow, of apple fame, and then into Tumut. We stayed the night in Tumut at the Merivale motel and the staff were brilliant and they are soon to install a bike garage I hear...highly recommended. There

Nice run. We did Mt Lindesay and Summerland to Kyogle for brekky, then back up Lions Rd - not as much easter traffic on Lions Rd as I thought there would be. I always try to credit photographers where as does most sites I guess but damn if it is not so easy. Often photos that come from so called common file vaults are later traced back to sources that never placed photo into public domain but that is the nature of the internet, everything is public domain once placed online.
