Welcome

Hi and welcome to my personal blog Motorcycle Paradise, a collection of my riding experiences and the occasion random thought. This site and my attempts at photography are just a hobby and I'm not trying to make either into anything else so some of the road info and photos might be a few years old. More recent info and photos can be found in the ride reports and when I get some time I might transfer this to the original posts. I do not profess to be a word smith so slang, typos and grammar mistakes are all par for the course. Regards IC.

Cutting corners

Hey - its a bike not a Hummer.

Soap box time...

Whats the go with riders cutting corners on mountain roads? I saw some guys doing this on weekend for no good reason that I could fathom and it reminded me of how often I have seen this of late. Perhaps its just laziness however my first thought whenever I see this is ' don't do that you idiot I don't want you to crash and take me with you' . If it's not being lazy (and stupid) then these people must then be riding at a pace beyond their skill level so are still an accident waiting to happen.

A particularly bad example springs to mind. I encountered a group of riders on the 4th day on my moto-gp ride. These guys were from Sydney and we were all on the same alpine roads for the day. They would pass me going hard and then pull up soon after while I sailed by and this repeated a few times. The lead two were quick riders and ok, the rest were not as fast so they were taking alot of risks to keep up, cutting corners so much they were unable to see what was coming and one guy on a Blue 'Rossi Go!!!' paint job bike nearly got collected by a XR6 Falcon. A few ran wide and they generally were on the ragged edge so much that I pulled off the road 2nd time then went past for fear they would take me out.

One of the large group on the Tawonga Gap road.

Maybe new riders views have changed but it has always been leave your lane and game over. The unwritten rule with anyone I have ridden with is keep it at "The Pace". Its just as fun and spirited but with a margin for error.
