Bald Knob Rd and Peachester. (repost)
Blogger didnt like this post last time - lets try again
I spoke about the road near Peachester previously but have now split it from that post where it was a bit confusing and added the scenic Bald Knob Rd to make a new post.
Just east of the township of Peachester is a superb twisty section of road popular with riders. Its quite intense and smooth nice hotmix - but also a busy section of rd so you may need to time your ride to get some kind of run over it.

Just west of the township of Peachester is a road called Bald Knob Rd that runs over to the Landsborough - Maleny Rd and is a very scenic rd and also mostly nice corners and a reasonable surface.
How you ride these is up to you, one option might be if you have ridden north to Maleny then go towards Landsborough and turn right onto Bald Knob Rd and then simply ride through Peachester and over the twisty bit and turn around and ride back then then continue back south towards Woodford.
Another option is from Maleny ride on to Mapelton and down the Dulong rd decent described in my great bike roads #11 post - back up Palmwoods-Montville rd and back to the junction near Maleny and then follow the above.
Of course you could ride to Mapelton via Kenilworth as well - thats the longer but best option.
Twisty rating: 3.
Surface quality: A.

WOW - this looks amazing. Im an english motorcycle enthusiast, planning to take my bike on tour round the states next year... Thanks for the inspiration - can you recommend any good american motorbike insurance companies who would give me 4 months cover while i am over there? If you had the website that would be even better - then i could buy the motor bike insurance online and it would be ready and active when i get over there...

ReplyDeleteTops ride :D
I have an idea, before riding to these areas check to see how many riders are injured and killed on these roads. April 11 2010 a man has been killed on this section of the road. Unfortunately, unsuprising to locals.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you should find something in your unhappy world to be positive about rather than coming here hateful at something you choose not to understand.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read comments like "Anonymous" it's like death coming out them. Horrible spirit and mentality. They are everywhere in motorcycle forums too. This blog is so pleasant to visit, these death talks can stay out.
ReplyDeleteI am a local rider living 15 minutes from Peachester. The incident anonymous speaks of was the death of a rider who was also a local, just unlucky. These roads are brilliant to ride on and if comonsence is used within the peramiters of have a shit load of fun. Ride on guys and girls.
ReplyDeleteHey IC, just a notice for you and your readers. The really good bit at Peachester currently has one complete lane closed which seems to be flood damage. There are lights there right in the middle of it now managing the traffic which backs up now. It completely bummed me out after I went up to Kenilworth today and went via Peachester and Maleny looking forward to the Peachester bit especially. Oh well, hopefully it will be all fixed son enough.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Great site! This is my bible for finding rides in the area :) Keep up the good work!

Great road, ride every weekend. To anonymous, people die on roads everywhere, usually because of stupid drivers. The guy who died at peachester died doing what he loved and also did peachester every weekend. We all know the risks and that is part of riding. We live to ride. Take your sad life and find other websites to leave your dogooding comments on.
