Not too many people who ride west go this far - but thats a shame as this is a nice ride.
From Esk follow the sign to Crows Nest.
This road has alot of open easy flowing corners - something not so easy to find around Brisbane which has more tight mountain roads. There is a small section of tighter corners mid way up/down however even these flow easy on any sort of motorbike.
I really like this road, for the simple fact that its a nice change with some great scenic spots.
The Gus Beutel Lookout is at Ravensbourne. This is a must see, a huge panorama unfolds before you.
I also recommended visiting Lake Perseverance.

ReplyDeleteHi - If you're riding from Esk on the Hampton Rd, Lake Perserverance is a good ride. Turnoff the Hampton Rd to the right (North), about 40K's from Esk. The ride is about 25K's from the Hampton Road turnoff through to Crows Nest across the top of the dam wall. I like it because its like an old English country lane, its 100K zone and got some nice corners. Pleasant park with shade at the dam but no shops.(distances from memory, been a few months since I rode it)

ReplyDeleteRide it regularly and have been for 30 yrs..watch out for roadworks now as recent floods made one whole section drop down the side of the mountain..
