Welcome

Hi and welcome to my personal blog Motorcycle Paradise, a collection of my riding experiences and the occasion random thought. This site and my attempts at photography are just a hobby and I'm not trying to make either into anything else so some of the road info and photos might be a few years old. More recent info and photos can be found in the ride reports and when I get some time I might transfer this to the original posts. I do not profess to be a word smith so slang, typos and grammar mistakes are all par for the course. Regards IC.

Good motorcycle roads # 4 Mt Mee

Mt Mee

Update 2011: Long time since I wrote this, I rarely ride this road now days, the surface has seen some deterioration due to lots of rain and no major road work but that may have already been mended. Southern climb was a mess after the 2011 floods and the top seems more bumpy than it already was. The northern ascent however is excellent still. For me too many bikes and too much police attention for what is an average bit of road but that's just my opinion - many people love this road.

The road to Mt Mee starts just north/west of Dayboro. Riding out of Brisbane there are a few ways to get here, I prefer going via Bunya Road , then Clear Mountain road then Winn Rd and I actually prefer to turn left and ride via Lake Samsonvale but most people would choose the more direct route left on Winn road to Dayboro.

The excellent Clear Mt rd.

Once at Mt Mee the climb up either side is the highlight. Parts of the top section are ok, the north side is perhaps the standout feature being a superb series of tight hotmix corners - but it isnt very long.

  1. Great ride as mentioned using Clear Mountain Rd. Out of Dayborough the road has very enjoyable with some lovely twists and turns which does get a little bumpy at times. Going down Mt Mee is great but coming back is amazing. Astonished with the speed limit on the road before Dayborough on the return, this is just a Police moneymaker.

  2. The hotmix climb on the north is right up there with the best for me.

You have hit the nail on the head - the north does attract alot of police action hence I ride the peaceful south more.

  3. - they are currently extending the hotmix down the tight section on the northern face - just past 'long bend'

look out for loose gravel !!

  4. The speed limit on the Dayboro side is admittedly a downfall for this road, but the lush hotmix on the northern end of the mountain makes up for this as it is actually a 100km/h speed limit. The extended hotmix roadworks has now been completed and the road is absolutely awesome! Definitely one of my favs on the northside.

    Cheers,

  5. Hi Phil,

The extension is great, I must try and ride here more often and update the posts here as I have some more routes and side roads on the northside now.
